Well, week 11 of the quilt-along is another two-block week, and the last of the major blocks; after this week each week involves a number of filler blocks (pin-wheels, courthouse steps etc). So a good opportunity to introduce some more new fabrics and reuse a couple: scrappy but with cohesion, that is the aim!
The block for this week is Old Maid Puzzle.
I decided to make one rust-red and deep green block and one yellow and olive-green block. Again Fabrics from Judie Rothermel for Marcus Fabrics and Erin Turner for Penny Rose, plus a Barbara Brackman print for Moda.
I made the block a bit less random than the originals, using four fabrics. So I cut out my squares and triangles….
And sewed them together.
Then started on block number two.
More triangles and squares…
And completed Old Maid Puzzle number two. I really like the way this block turned out.
So now all the major blocks are done, and we go on to the filler blocks. Instead of one or two blocks, the weekly progress will be four or five blocks.
