I have finished piecing my Kona cottons ‘Winter Rainbow’ quilt, so it is now waiting to be layered and quilted.
So (after removing lots and lots of little coloured threads from the design wall fabric with a sticky roller) there is something new on the design wall: the beginnings of a table-topper. The fabrics are from a charm pack of Mirabelle by Fig Tree & Co. for Moda. I made a selection from the charm pack (discarding all the plain fabrics), and then pieced 9 four-patch blocks.
I played about with the layout before sewing the four-patch blocks together to get the dark brown squares evenly distributed (there were only five in the pack), and no two squares of the same pattern or colour abutting each other. But that was just step one: they have since ‘disappeared’ and the design wall now looks like this:
I love disappearing nine- and four-patch blocks: it is so simple to do, and the result is so dramatically different. Just got to sew these all together, and the top will be complete.
